Peter Shine

Originally from Roscommon, Peter is a graduate of the BA Theatre & Performance four-year course in University of Galway. Since graduating, Peter has gone on to work with several theatre companies, including Druid Theatre Company and Decadent Theatre Company.

Peter began performing plays with a group of friends in Athlone – producing short plays for the All-Ireland Drama Festival Fringe and the TriAthlone Festival.

After receiving his undergraduate degree, Peter began working with Decadent Theatre Company and has featured in several touring productions, including: The Pillowman, Vernon God Little, The Dead School, The Weir, and The Thing About December.

In 2014, Peter received the inaugural Druid FUEL bursary for his first full-length play No Show, produced by ThereisBear! Theatre Company. 

In 2018, Peter co-wrote and starred in an independent feature film Sooner or Later, which is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Peter has also received other bursaries, including two Gap Days from The Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, and the Artist Development Space residency with The Dean Crowe Theatre & Arts Centre, Athlone. Peter was also awarded a place on The Abbey’s 20×20 programme.

Peter has also performed with Fregoli Theatre Company and was a core member of their two-years long residency with The Roscommon Arts Centre, 2020-21.
Most recently, Peter has performed with Druid Theatre Company in their production of The Seagull (After Chekhov) which was performed outdoors in Coole Park, Co. Galway.
